[FREEPORT, IL – October 26, 2022] – The Freeport Community Foundation (FCF) Board of Directors announced today the recipients of its Fall 2022 Matt Marvin Community Needs granting cycle. Fourteen regional non-profit organizations (NPOs) were awarded a total of $97,756. Of the funds awarded from the FCF’s Community Needs/Marvin Unrestricted Fund and the Craig Wilson Trust, 80% were directed toward regional nonprofit organizations (NPO’s) and programs dedicated to assisting with the most basic needs of some of our most impoverished regional neighbors. That includes $25,351 benefiting three NPOs continuing the fight against our region’s food insecurity issue.

Nonprofit Organizations located in and/or serving the residents of Stephenson, Jo Daviess, and Carroll counties are eligible to participate in the Foundation’s semi-annual Matt Marvin Community Needs granting cycles. Response to the Foundation’s initial call for Fall applications resulted in 24 applications with requests in excess of $250,000 against the available funds.
“Through our grant cycles, we want to work with local organizations to ensure that in the communities we serve we are uplifting the well-being of those that they serve,” Executive Director Michelle DeHaven-Quast stated. “Because of those who continue to support the mission of the Freeport Community Foundation, we can deliver promising solutions to many of our region’s most pressing concerns. Our Fall 2022 grant recipients represent community needs ranging from children’s care and education to food insecurity and life-sustaining solutions. We are honored to do our part in addressing these very serious needs.”
